PhD Student Positions in Climate Science

This position has been filled for Spring 2027, but may open again for Fall 2027 depending on the funding situation. Dr. Xian Wu’s Climate Dynamics and Prediction Lab at the University of Texas at Dallas (UT Dallas) welcomes highly motivated prospective PhD students to reach out.

Research Focus

The lab investigates ocean-atmosphere coupled processes, with three primary areas:

  1. Ocean-atmosphere interactions examining variability, changes, predictability, and impacts
  2. Development of seamless Earth system predictions across seasonal to decadal timescales
  3. Climate model improvements using hierarchical modeling, observational data, and paleoclimate records
